Screaming Trees - Sweet Oblivion [1992]

What can anyone say about this ALBUM???? Definetely one of my all times favorite, the "Sweet Oblivion" by the Screaming Trees is a Mythic composition. Grunge, alternative, progressive, mature, nostalgique, hard and above all... PURE ROCK. For me, this is the best Grunge album ever (with only one competitor the "Ten" by the Pearl Jam), and for sure one of the best albums in the history of rock. Enough from me.... Enjoy!!!!!

Info:
Sweet Oblivion is Screaming Trees' 6th full length album that was released on September 8, 1992. The recording was the band's highest landmark in terms of album sales, and was the closest they would come to ever achieving mainstream success. Sweet Oblivion managed to sell in excess of 300,000+ copies on the strength of "Nearly Lost You." The band's biggest hit, it benefitted from an appearance on the Singles soundtrack, a Top Ten, platinum-selling hit album which featured many other popular Seattle-based music acts from the time period.
Personnel changes around the time of the album also led to the replacing of original drummer Mark Pickerel, who left to pursue other musical interests, with Barrett Martin. Four years would pass in between Sweet Oblivion and the band's followup album, Dust, a move that arguably hurt much of the Trees' commercial momentum.

The Throbs - The Language Of The Thieves And Vagabonds [1991]

Produced by Bob Ezrin & Dick Wagner .
The Throbs : Sweetheart : vocals
Roger Ericson : guitar & baglama
Danny Nordahl : bass
Ronnie Magri : drums
+ Little Richard : piano*.

The late 80's/early 90's produced quite a few bands which didn't gain the success they deserved and whose albums are considered to be lost classics. Signed to Geffen, they were considered to be the next Guns N'Roses, but stardom never struck and a band-life full of decadence led to the group's early demise.
Listening to "The Language Of Thieves And Vagabonds" now, you won't be surprised that this band just couldn't last long. These 11 tracks (two of which are previously unreleased demos) are sleazy rock songs which are heavily influenced by drugs, living on the streets and of course the Rolling Stones. Just listen to The Throbs "Honey Child", which sounds like an unofficial follow-up to the Stones "Wild Horses" or the rocking "Ecstasy" and you'll get the idea.
Much like other bands back then such as The Quireboys or The Dogs D'Amour, these guys didn't want to get a piece of the pie of the hair metal pie, their goal was to make a timeless Rock'n'Roll classic. And what can I say now, 17 years later? Well, yep, they managed to achieve that! " The Language Of Thieves And Vagabonds" still sounds fresh, gritty, and most of all, honest. And while in my eyes this album still is over-hyped, it sums up what true Rock'n'Roll is all about.

The Bamboos - With Which To Love You (EP) [1986]

Info:
The Bamboos
Craig Hallsworth: guitar, vocals
Greg Hitchcock: vocals, guitar
Russell Hopkinson: drums
Mark Gelmi: bass

This the "The Bamboos" second single on Citadel recorded in 1986. "..."With Which To Love You" is a real corker, the best of the two songs here. "Winded" follows the typical Bamboos pattern; they have enough good songs to keep you interested, but it seems like half their stuff is totally useless..." NKVD

The Barracudas - Wait For Everything [1989]

Info:
In May, 1989, Bucketfull Of Brains ran an article announcing that Wills and Gluck were writing songs again and that the Barracudas would be getting back together. When asked in that feature why this was the right time for a reunion, Wills said "The main reason is that I can relate to Jeremy again – it’s been a long time since I could. We managed to get back together, first through humor and then music".
Wills had been on tour in Italy with the Fortunate Sons when that band split up, and he was staying at the house of a girl who had a copy of Drop Out With The Barracudas, which they gave a spin. "I thought great, why can’t we be that good again?", said Wills in that Bucketfull article. "The idea was to try and get back some of that freshness, but we realize that we can’t emulate what we were when we were 19."
The new band featured former Fortunate Sons bassist Steve Robinson and at first had a friend of Steve’s named Rick Sigmund as drummer. They cut 3 demos with this lineup in February and 3 more in May, but Rick was quickly replaced with Jay Posner., who for my money was the best drummer they ever had. It seemed that interest in the band hadn’t waned much while they were gone, and many people were really excited when they reformed. I asked Jeremy whether that counted for much in the re-union plans. "It was not really a motivator", he replied. "I figured we had been forgotten and was surprised when I found out we had not been."
"I had not seen Robin nor Steve for some long time. I had done my stuff with Nikki Sudden and was coming out of active commitment to music, in fact, writing a lot for Sounds, wife & kids, etc. And then one evening Steve calls and says (he was sharing a place with Robin at the time), "Look, we was thinking, listening to Drop Out etc. It sounds hot...we want to reform the band!" And I was kinda, "Let me sleep on it...!" I was still half in denial about the whole 'cudas thing, about breaking up prematurely and blowing it, about how dorky some of our output had been. But I knew I would do it...it's in the blood. So we met and rehearsed and it rocked. And that was that."
The Barracudas signed to Canadian indie Shake! who tested the market for decade old fish bands by releasing the single "I Thought You Sounded That Way Yesterday" with "Remember" on the flip in January of 1991, but it wasn’t until February of 1992 that there was finally a new full length Barracudas release…nearly 3 years after they decided to get back together. But the result justified the wait, and maybe that explains the title of the new CD. Produced by Andy Shernoff (although he isn’t credited), Wait For Everything was one of the most convincing reunion efforts I’ve ever heard, and probably my favorite Barracudas long player. It has a fabulous batch of tunes; the title track, the nostalgic "I Thought You Sounded That Way Yesterday", the slinky, driving "Outside My Door", the anthemic pair of "Throwin’ It All Away" an on any other Barracudas effort. Robin Wills, who always wrote the majority of Barracudas tunes, turns in his best set ever here. And his guitar playing brings that 12 string Byrds jangle firmly into the post-punk era; this is where California rock should have headed in the early 70s when it somehow detoured into the Eagles. There’s that "Chestnut Mare" sort of feel mixed with a power that the Byrds could never have matched given the equipment and production values of their day.

Dramarama - Cinéma Vérité [1985]

Info:
Probably the greatest rock release from 1985 that almost no one has ever heard, Cinema Verite is a simply fantastic album. Blending everything from British Invasion panache and glam influences to punk energy and back again, its cult legend was established by L.A. DJ legend Rodney Bingenheimer. He played "Anything, Anything (I'll Give You)" to death on his show and created a sizeable following for the New Jersey band in Southern California. It's no surprise why: "Anything, Anything" simply smokes, a rave-up for the modern day that starts with a blasting riff before hitting a high-speed punch that doesn't stop, while singer John Easdale details the highs and lows of a relationship with a breathless yowl. There's much more to Cinema Verite than that song, though, as even a casual listen demonstrates. Guitarists Mr. E Boy and Peter Wood distill the kick of performers like Keith Richards, Mick Ronson, and Mott the Hoople-era Mick Ralphs into a hot-wired combination, while rhythm section Chris Carter (bass) and Jesse (drums) hit the beat with heart and talent. Add in keyboardist Theothorous Athanasious Ellenis for final flair and the results are jaw dropping. "Scenario," for instance, is the greatest song the Psychedelic Furs never wrote, with a chugging beat, cut-to-the-chase solos, and Easdale's delicious Dylan-into-Ian Hunter-via-Bowie vocals creating the definition of energetic melancholia. Speaking of Bowie, there's a fantastic cover of his "Candidate," the freaked-out psychosis fully intact, not to mention a nicely dissipated take on the Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale." Add in everything from the anguished kick of "Questions?" and the building explosion of "Some Crazy Dame" to the concluding elegance of "Emerald City," and this isn't a cult classic, but classic, period. Rhino's welcome reissue in 1995 tacked on eight bonus tracks, including demo takes and sparer, nervous early singles, and two extensive essays celebrating both the band and this wonderful record. -AMG

The Leaving Trains - Favorite Mood Swings : Greatest Hits [1997]

Info:
Too many indie bands have never really learned how to rock & roll. Fortunately, for 18 years, L.A.'s Leaving Trains have never forgotten. Not many of their eight LPs have been true masterpieces (there is one for sure: 1986's killer Kill Tunes, which serves up the first four tracks here); Singer/guitarist "Falling" James Moreland, the band's lone constant, always insists on warts-'n'-all, crank-'em-up, let-'em-fly productions. Hey, he was doing that long before it became fashionable (before Sebadoh and GBV even formed), without ever resorting to lo-fi home studio production. Every Trains record has sounded loud, not cheap! So while Moreland can be accused of inconsistency, both in his albums and his myriad lineups, there's no denying that Moreland's untamed, unwieldy, humming punk-'n'-roll records have rumbled through a dozen post-R&B rock & roll styles with real abandon. This collection leaves today's legions of smug and ironic, or (most of all) horribly insular, one-dimensional bands gasping in the restrictive boxes they've nailed themselves into. Thus, now is a good time for a Trains overview -- a smart idea for a hit-and-miss band, too. There's not a boring minute on this extended-length, 25-cut CD. Perhaps a case can be made that two dozen tracks are AWOL, but FMS heads for the songs that smack one silly in adrenaline rush and pent-up pounding. In your face? You betcha! In short, Moreland wants to mess with you, because he thinks rock is a challenge, an incitement, a need to get wild and free, not a polite party or a postmodern reflection. This CD is the best evidence that Leaving Trains would gladly destroy your party instead, with the sheer force of brash, soul, chops, and attitude, and they won't wait around for your gratitude.

The Sound - From The Lions Mouth (Lossless) [1981]

Info:
There is a kind of double irony to the lyrics of the opening track of The Sound's second album. Listening to the excellent new wave classic 'Winning' the lyrics convey becoming triumphant in the face of adversity: "I was going to drown then I started swimming. I was going down then I started winning". Yet these optimistic words are set to a doomy rhythm section that suggests anything but. All of this naturally leads to thinking of frontman Adrian Borland's recent suicide. Rather reflect on that though, it is best to concentrate on an excellent album from the early 80's which ranks alongside The Comsat Angels' early work for being an overlooked classic. 'From The Lion's Mouth' possesses that same air of controlled miserablism and that tangible sense of loneliness that sounds just as poignant now as it did 22 years ago. Unfortunately the group lost their way on subsequent albums in an effort to cross over to a more lucrative market. Remember them instead for exemplars of edgy rock such as the rattling intensity of 'The Fire' and 'Skeletons' or the awesome 'Fatal Flaw' and 'New Dark Age' with its threatening military drum introduction.

Red Temple Spirits - If Tomorrow I Were Leaving for Lhasa, I Wouldn't Stay a Minute More [1989]

Info:
Los Angeles quartet Red Temple Spirits skillfully mix post-punk influences - mid-period Cure, Savage Republic, early (Death) Cult - with a loving dose of lysergic psychedelia (Syd Barrett and Roky Erickson are particular touchstones). Bassist Dino Paredes and guitarist Dallas Taylor coax entrancing drones and pulses from thier instruments with judicious uses of echoe and other effects, while shamanistic frontman William Faircloth (a colorful immigrant from Britain's original '60s psychedelic movement) delves into mysticism (Native American on the first album, Tibetan on the second) with a grace and passion rarely seen before.
Dancing to Restore an Eclipsed Moon is an astonishing debut. The luxurios packaging (doubleLP/single CD) mirrors the care put into the music, which tastefully incorporates flutes, bells, natural sounds (water, birds) to create a heady atmosphere of ritualistic ecstasy. Short catchy compositions like 'Dark Spirits' and 'Dreamings Ending' alternate with several long and complex pieces.
The follow-up album is far more direct, both in the melodic music and the lyrics, which turn towards external/environmental stimuli. As crystallized by the gorgeous 'Dive In Deep' and an incandescent cover of Pink Floyd's 'Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun,' the theme of hope for the magic and beauty of life in the face of despair remains. Prior to the Spirits, Faircloth lent his vocal ululations to the similarly psychedelic Ministry of Love, a trio that included guitar wiz Mark Nine. Although lacking the Red Temple Spirits' brilliant chemistry, there are some great moments on the five-track EP, including 'Living in the Moment' (a showcase for Nine's e-bow mastery) and Faircloth's touching ballad, 'You're Not On Your Own'

The Walkabouts - New West Motel [1993]

Info (Totaly by Lost-In-Tyme):
Despite their background (punk), geography (Seattle), and label affiliation (Sub Pop), the Walkabouts were anything but a grunge band; dark, haunting, and elegiac, their work instead sprung forth from the storytelling traditions of American roots music and the kinetic excitement of rock & roll. The Walkabouts were formed in 1984 by Chris Eckman and his brothers Curt and Grant, all of whom had previously played together in a number of punk-pop outfits, along with singer Carla Torgerson, a veteran of folk and street singing. The group's lineup proved fluid, although Chris Eckman and Torgerson remained the Walkabouts' driving forces; a later roster including bassist Michael Wells, multi-instrumentalist Glenn Slater, and drummer Terri Moeller did hang together for a number of years.
After issuing a self-titled cassette in 1984, the Walkabouts released the EP 22 Disasters a year later. A full-length LP, Weights and Rivers, was planned for 1987, but the record was never released — a harbinger of music industry problems to come. Instead, the group offered See Beautiful Rattlesnake Garden in 1988, which not only marked the continued maturity of Eckman and Torgerson's songwriting but also earned the Walkabouts a contract with the fledgling Sub Pop label. The deal resulted in upgraded production values, as evidenced by 1989's Cataract and its follow-up, the next year's six-song EP Rag & Bone, which featured the keyboard work of the newly added Slater.
Released in 1991, Scavenger proved to be the last Walkabouts record issued in their native land for some time; however, while the deal with Sub Pop's American division went sour, the label's European division, Glitterhouse, hung on to the Walkabouts, where the band's following had been steadily growing. Between 1993 and 1995, the group issued a staggering seven full-length records in Europe — three by the full band, a limited-edition live collection, and three more released by the duo of Chris & Carla. Finally, in 1995 the three aforementioned Walkabouts albums — the double-LP set New West Motel, the all-covers Satisfied Mind, and the more rock-oriented Setting the Woods on Fire — all appeared domestically. A year later, the band issued two more albums, the all-new Devil's Road (recorded with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra) and Death Valley Days: Lost Songs and Rarities, 1985-1995, a collection of odds and ends. In November 1996, Wells left the Walkabouts to devote himself to his side project, Pluto Boy; he was replaced by bassist Baker Saunders. Trail of Stars followed in 2000.

Deus Ex Machina - Motorpsycho [1990]

Info (Totaly by Lost-In-Tyme):
The band's first release came as a violent punch in the stomach to the unsuspecting Greek scene of 1990. Raw and romantic at the same time, established Deus Ex Machina as one of the biggest names for the years to come until today. A true classic! Current CD includes fully remastered original album with bonus tracks of long out of print band singles, complete with extra rare, older material previously released on compilations only, plus the infamous "Execute/Iraq'n'Roll" single.

Group Bio:
Deus Ex Machina were formed in 1989 by Dimitris Spyropoulos and Dimitris Manthos in Athens, Greece. Spyropoulos and current drummer Yiannis Venardis were veterans of the local punk scene of the early 80s. The band eventually gained overwhelming acceptance of the alternative crowds. In the years to come, this resulted in over 500 concerts with increasing success, establishing DXM as a predominantly kicking live band in spite of their limited discography.
In the course of their history DXM have suffered several setbacks including a number of serious car accidents and repeated personnel changes. So far, not only did they persevere, but on top of every adversity, they seem to come out on a limb with added stamina each time. Nowadays, DXM are considered as one of the major established acts of the greek alternative scene. Some of the highlights of their history include their appearance in landmark anti-Bosnian war concerts in Skopje, FYROM in 1994. In 1995, at the height of the Bosnian war, they toured Serbia. Year 1996 finds them appearing in major festivals in the cause of peace in the Balkans. Year 2000 was marked, among other things, by their memorable appearances at the Biennale 2000 in Torino, Italy.
Furthermore, over the years DXM have performed in a large number of concerts promoting social consciousness, which is also reflected on the lyrics and the overall attitude of the band. More notably, in the last two years, they have appeared several benefit concerts supporting the cause of the Zapatista native insurgents of the Chiapas region in Mexico. A respectable sum has been raised for the erection of a school for Zapatista children to be completed in the year 2004. The band has already accepted an invitation to appear at the completion ceremony.
The next major step is coming with the release of their latest Signs LP/CD in February 2003. This sums up effectively the final result of the last three years of hard work and experimentation. The album was produced by accomplished producer Hardy S. Party (Giant Sand, The Style Lab) marking the opening of a new phase in the evolution of the band.
As active supporters of the peace movement, they participated in several protest activities against the war in IRAQ. Suffice to say that this last war came as if anticipated by the band's grimly prophetic "Iraq 'n' Roll". The song was written back in 1991 inspired by the then recent Gulf War.

VA - Naked Black Giant Leaving Low River [1990]

Info (by Lost-In-Tyme):
Back in the 80s there was a scene that blossomed in the Arizona desert. Green on Red were one the first and more well-known bands, but they soon left for L.A. Giant Sand, Naked Prey, Rainer, Woodcocks, Sidewinders, Al Perry & the Cattle, Black Sun Ensemble, River Roses and many more were labeled by the music press as the "desert sound", although there are only three records that you can actually smell the desert: Meat Puppets' "Up On The Sun", Black Sun Ensemble's "Lambent Flame" and Al Perry and the Cattle's "Cattle Crossing" - and all three of them have nothing in common musically.

The Arizona bands (mainly from Tucson) were playing good, old rock'n'roll music, with loud guitars, high tension and lots of energy. By this I don't mean that the Arizona scene was just generic rock; on the contrary: around 1987-8 there were very few places in the U.S. where you could find a more fresh, massive and alive scene.

From the bare sound of Howie Gelb's guitar (usually backed only by John Convertino's minimal drum kit) - you can see them at the left with desert outfit, to the epic anthems of Naked Prey, to the deeply spiritual ragas of Black Sun Ensemble, to the cow-punk of Low Max and the streight rock of River Roses, all captured live in Tucson and elsewhere - we get a good taste of what was this "Desert sound" all about (Leaving Trains were not from Arizona, but they play a superb version of "Left" here).

This is a rip from the LP released on Skyclad in 1990 (there was also a CD version with a couple of tracks more (by the same bands) but I've never see it)

You can find more on Leaving Trains, Giant Sand and Black Sun Ensemble in Lost-In-Tyme (all recently reposted for anyone who want to get more) and, if there any interest from our visitors, I could post a lot more from this scene. Unfortunately, you're too shy with your comments lately - soul/funk fans excluded - and we couldn't know if you like something or not. Anyway...

Sand Rubies - Return Of The Living Dead [1998]

Album info:
SAND RUBIES Return of the living dead cd 1998 320 kbps
Produced by R. Hopkins & D. Slutes except* by W. Watchel.
Sand Rubies : R. Hopkins : guitars / D. Slutes : vocals / M. Perrodin : bass / R. Johnson : bass on ° / B. Halper : drums.

The Sand Rubies evolved from an Arizona group called the Sidewinders, an outfit that had already put out three albums with Rich Hopkins on guitar and David Slutes as vocalist. The name change came about because of legal difficulties, but they went on to ink a deal with Mammoth Records in 1988. A showcase followed in New York, resulting in a deal with RCA. Due to little promotional backing from RCA, the Sand Rubies moved on to Ensign/Chrysalis during the early 1990s. Unfortunately, when EMI took over Chrysalis, the band was left out in the cold. Soon the Sand Rubies again had a new deal, this time with Atlas/PolyGram. At one time, Pearl Jam was the band's opening act. But the frustrations of continually having to find a new label tested band members resolve and resulted in tempers that were sometimes short. Infighting between Hopkins and Slutes led to even shakier times in 1993, and band members went their own ways. Three years later the two feuding musicians seemed to have buried the hatchet and they reunited with drummer Bruce Halper and bass player Mark Perrodin. Hopkins also has a solo career and play with Luminarios.

Radio Birdman - Living Eyes [1981]

Album info:

Living Eyes was the second studio album released by Sydney, Australia punk-rock band Radio Birdman. It was the last recorded album by the band and they split up shortly after it was recorded in 1978. This delayed the album's release until 1981. Radio Birdman re-formed in 2006 to record the album Zeno Beach, and for an Australian tour featuring both classic Birdman tracks and new songs. Living Eyes sound was heavily influenced by the lead guitarist and producer Deniz Tek who had lived in Detroit before moving to Australia and been influenced musically by the "Motor City Rock" sound. The music of Birdman has been compared to that of The Stooges and MC5, but their sound is also comparable to that of 60's rock 'n' roll bands such as The Rolling Stones.

Radio Birdman - Radios Appear (Lossless) (Remastered) [1977]

Group info:

Deniz Tek and Rob Younger formed Radio Birdman in mid-1974 in Sydney. Radio Birdman’s music does not fit specifically with the punk rock genre, nor do the band like this label. A fitting genre would be alternative punk, or as the band called it, ‘Sub-Pop’. Fans of the band often classed the music as the Detroit sound, similar to bands such as MC5. The first track ‘Aloha Steve & Danno’ is a take off from the TV Show Hawaii Five-O.

It's A Beautiful Day - It's A Beautiful Day (Lossless) [1968]

Intro
This album is further evidence of the fact that no other era in history has come close to matching the artistic heights reached by the musicians of the late sixties. Without doubt this album of gorgeous harmonies and faultless musicianship that takes in Jazz, Classical,Folk and Rock deserves classic status.

The Classic Band of the Sixites Embraced by San Francisco and the Love Generation, the Legendary First Album from 1969 featuring White Bird. One of the Original San Francisco Groups, like Jefferson Airplane who changed the way we listen to music forever.

Although they are not one of the better-known San Francisco bands to have emerged from the ballroom circuit of the late '60s and early '70s, It's a Beautiful Day were no less memorable for their unique progressive rock style that contrasted well with the Bay Area psychedelic scene. Led by David LaFlamme (flute/violin/vocals) and his wife, Linda LaFlamme (keyboards), the six-piece unit on this album vacillates between light and ethereal pieces such as the lead-off cut, "White Bird," to the heavier, prog rock-influenced "Bombay Calling." One of the most distinct characteristics of It's a Beautiful Day is their instrumentation. The prominence of David LaFlamme former violin soloist with the Utah Symphony and original member of Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks adds a refinement to It's a Beautiful Day's sound. Likewise, the intricate melodies mostly composed by the LaFlammes are structured around the band's immense virtuosity, a prime example being the exquisitely haunting harpsichord-driven "Girl With No Eyes." The noir framework, as well as lyrics such as "...she's just a reflection of all of the time I've been high," point rather candidly to the hallucinogenic nature of the song's if not the band's influences. The same can be said of the languidly eerie "Bulgaria." The almost chant-like quality of the track slowly crescendos into an hypnotic and dreamlike sonic journey led by LaFlamme's brilliant violin work. By virtue of being a Bay Area fixture in the late '60s, It's a Beautiful Day could also easily double as a hippie dance band which they can also execute with great aplomb as the wildly up-tempo "Time Is" amply proves. It's a Beautiful Day remains as a timepiece and evidence of how sophisticated rock & roll had become in the fertile environs of the San Francisco music scene. ---AllMusic

Plot:

Los Angeles, 2019: Rick Deckard of the LAPD's Blade Runner unit prowls the steel & micro-chip jungle of the 21st century for assumed humanoids known as 'replicants'. Replicants were declared illegal after a bloody mutiny on an Off-World Colony, and are to be terminated upon detection. Man's obsession with creating a being equal to himself has back-fired. Written by Matt McQuillan {mjment@hotmail.com}
Deckard is a Blade Runner, a police man of the future who hunts down and terminates replicants, artificially created humans. He wants to get out of the force, but is drawn back in when 4 "skin jobs", a slang term for replicants, hijack a ship back to Earth. The city that Deckard must search for his prey is a huge, sprawling, bleak vision of the future. This film questions what it is to be human, and why life is so precious. Τρύπες (Trypes), which translates in English as "Holes", were an acclaimed band. Members come from Thessaloniki, Greece. Trypes was created in 1983 when Γιώργος Καρράς (Giorgos Karras) and Γιάννης Αγγελάκας (Giannis Aggelakas) wrote their first, post-punk influenced lyrics. Μιχάλης Κανατίδης (Michalis Kanatidis) on guitar and Κώστας Φλωροσκούφης (Kostas Floroskoufis) on drums accompanied them at their first appearance. In 1984 Μπάμπης Παπαδόπουλος (Babis Papadopoulos) replaces Michalis at the guitar and in 1985 they record their first record, Τρύπες (Trypes - Holes), which included their first hit song Ταξιδιάρα ψυχή (Taksidiara Psichi - Travelling Soul) for Ano-Kato Records. The album was followed by live appearances at the "Selini" club, the university campus and the surrounding areas of Thessaloniki. Kostas Floroskoufis was soon replaced by Γιώργος Τόλιος (Giorgos Tolios). Concerts were held in Athens in the Rodeo Club and at the open air amphitheater of Lykavittos, where they played the opening act for Δημήτρης Πουλικάκος (Dimitris Poulikakos). Meanwhile, the band's working relationship with Ano - Kato Records started to go sour. This happend due to the oral contract they had with Ano - Kato Records and the exploitation of the band's rights over the record. Later on their first album, Τρύπες, was given for free with the greek music magazine difono. They decided to go independent and - on borrowed money - recorded their second disk Πάρτυ Στον 13ο Όροφο (Party sto dekato trito orofo - Party on the 13th Floor) which was eventually published with Virgin Records. The album was very successful; it figured in the top five list of best rock albums of all time in Greece in 2006. In 1990 comes their third album, Τρύπες Στον Παράδεισο (Trypes ston paradiso - Holes in Paradise), and their first concert outside Greece in Belfort, France. Guitarist Ασκληπιός Ζαμπέτας (Asklipios Zambetas) joins the band as the fifth member. The fourth album was recorded in 1993, titled Εννιά Πληρωμένα Τραγούδια (9 Pliromena tragoudia - 9 Paid Songs). A live performance at Lykavittos gathers a record-setting 10.000 people. In 1994 a double live album was released, named Κράτα Το Σώου Μαϊμού (Krata to show maimou - Keep the Show Bogus) with recordings from 4 concerts at Rodon club and 5 unplugged performances. Both this album's and the film soundtrack (H epohi ton dolofonon) sales went through the roof. Concerts during 1995 were often sold out all over Greece, at the Mylos club (Thessaloniki), Rodon club (Athens), and England, at Manchester and the Marquee club in London. The fifth studio album, Κεφάλι Γεμάτο Χρυσάφι (Kefali gemato chrisafi - Head Full of Gold) arrived in 1996. It went gold in the first week of it's release. The sixth studio album was titled Μέσα στη Νύχτα των Άλλων (Mesa sti nichta ton allon - Within the Night of Others) and was released in 1999. The band announced their break-up very soon after the album's release, during 2000.
